#1 - Add your first vehicle

Once you complete the registration process, you will automatically be taken into the "Add Vehicle" screens. Once you have the new vehicle form open, you can begin to fill in the fields. Here are some tips:

  • Complete your Basic Info - The information on this screen will make up the publicly viewable content for your vehicle (assuming you set your vehicle privacy to "public")
  • Give your vehicle a creative name  (or nickname) – “The Beast”, “Gertrude”, “Lil Buddy 2”, etc. Note that you do NOT need to include the year, make, model or color in this nickname as that will already be recorded and listed separately. So resist the urge to just use “Green 74 Bronco”  as the vehicle name – you can be more creative than that!
  • Add a nice description for this vehicle including things like when and where you got it, how you use it, what your plans are for it, etc. If you wish to include a summary of the vehicle's specs and capabilities you can also do that here, but you will be able to record those things in detail using the Tasks and Parts features. And remember, this information is what will be seen on the vehicle's public home page.
  • Set your privacy - Set your desired privacy level for this vehicle. You should leave the privacy setting at "Public" if you want others to be able to see any of your information. You can still set individual privacy on each element within the vehicle - so you can keep certain papers, parts, etc fully private even though your vehicle is public. Learn more about privacy here. Once you have completed the basic information, click the Next button to move to the "extended information" screen.
  • Entering your Extended Information - The fields on the "Extended Information " screen are all optional, and the information you enter here will always be private. Even though these fields are optional, they are very useful for you to help organize and manage some key information for your vehicle and we encourage you to fill in what you know. You should at least add your current odometer reading in the “mileage” field as well as your expected “annual mileage” – as those are important for RideCache to be able to calculate usage for part notifications.
  • When you are finished completing the form fields, click the Next button to move to the picture entry window.
  • Uploading your pictures - here you can upload all of the pictures you want to be available on your main vehicle page. This probably does not need to be all of the pictures you have of your car, just those that you want to use to show off or highlight the car. This is because pictures of specific work, parts, events, etc can be loaded and viewed in their respective areas. This organization makes browsing, viewing and showing off your car's history easier and more enjoyable. You can read much more about working with pictures in RideCache here.

If you already have some pictures loaded, you will see your current profile image for the vehicle with a small orange "+" symbol in the bottom right corner, click that icon to open the "add pictures" window.
