Adding a Home Screen App Icon for RideCache

RideCache is a highly mobile optimized web application. That simply means that it is an application that you access through a web browser, but that will work very much like a native mobile app on your device once it is open. In order to make RideCache work even more like a native mobile app, you can add a RideCache icon on your devices home screen so you can launch the app with a single click. Here is how.

On your iOS device with Safari (iPhone or iPad)
  1. Open Safari and go to RideCache by typing ridecache.com in the address bar, then log in to your account using the button or menu at the top right of the screen.
  2. Tap the Share button on the browser’s toolbar — that’s the rectangle with an arrow pointing up and right. It’s on the bar at the top of the screen on an iPad, and on the bar at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone or iPod Touch.
  3. Tap the Add to Home Screen icon in the Share menu.
  4. You’ll be able to enter a name for the shortcut (RideCache), then touch "Add" and Safari will add the icon to your home screen.
On your Android device with default Android browser
  1. Open the "Internet" browser and go to RideCache by typing ridecache.com in the address bar, then log in to your account using the button or menu at the top right of the screen.
  2. Tap the "MORE" button at the right end of the address bar, then tap "Add shortcut on Home screen".
  3. You will find your new icon on the first screen that has room for a new icon.
On your Android device with Chrome browser
  1. Open Chrome and go to RideCache by typing ridecache.com in the search/address bar, then log in to your account using the button or menu at the top right of the screen.
  2. Tap the menu button at the right of the address bar (the 3 little vertical dots), scroll down and tap "Add to Home screen".
  3. You’ll be able to enter a name for the shortcut (RideCache) and then Chrome will add it to your Home screen in the first available spot (may be on a new page).
If you are using a different browser than those mentioned, the method to get the home screen icon should be similar to above. Just look for the option in the menu where you can save favorites or shortcuts.
