Adding and uploading pictures

RideCache is built around the idea that pictures are an important part of our vehicle’s story. RideCache expects you to capture and preserve pictures for everything. Not just beauty shots of your vehicle in its perfect state – but also pictures of every task, part and event that is part of the vehicles story and pictures of the “work in progress”, not just the finished masterpiece.

We have made it easy to get lots of pictures into your RideCache – enabling you to load many pictures at once with a very fast and efficient interface. When you are first building your account, you may want to work from a PC with a fast internet connection, then switch to mobile for adding and making smaller daily changes to your RideCache.

  • Adding pictures from your PC - When adding pictures from your PC, click the “+” button to bring up the picture upload interface. Here you will be able to upload pictures using one of several methods:
    • My Computer – select images from your PC. You can either click the “Choose files” button to select files using your PC’s file browsing tool, or you can simply drag your pictures into the dotted line box to queue them for uploading. You can also drag entire folders into the box to upload them all at once [folder uploads currently only supported when using the Chrome browser].

    • Web Images – This allows you to type a query into the search box and find pictures from the web to upload. This is particularly useful for parts, where you can search the manufacturer and model number to quickly pull up images of the part for your records. Of course, you can also take and upload pictures of your actual part, but sometimes these web images are enough.

    • Social Media and File Services – if you want to upload pictures from a third-party service, you can click that service and upload your pictures from there. You will be asked to log in to that service and approve RideCache for access, then you will be able to browse and choose pictures to upload. You should only have to do the authentication process the first time.

    • Webcam – you can also take a picture using your webcam on your PC.
    • You can use a combination of the above to pick and choose the pictures you want to upload, then click the final upload button when you are ready and the selected images will be uploaded from all sources.
    • If you wish to cancel and not upload any images, simply click the “x” at the top right to close the window and return to the previous screen.

  • Adding pictures from your mobile device - If you are using a larger mobile device or tablet (like an iPad), the process will likely be the same as described above for the PC, but the mobile interfaces for Apple iOS and Android phones are slightly different.
    • Once you click the + icon to bring up the picture upload interface, you will see a button in the middle of the screen to "Select Files to Upload". If you want to upload files from your device, click here to navigate to those files and select them for upload.
    • If you want to upload pictures from other sources, click the menu icon at the top left to bring up the list of choices. From here, you can connect to one of your third-party accounts and then navigate to your desired pictures and select them for upload.
    • Click the "Take Photo" button or camera icon in the left-hand menu if you want to take a new picture with your device and upload that to RideCache. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.
    • You can add pictures from multiple sources, then click the Upload button at the bottom right of the screen when you are ready to upload the images.
    • If you wish to cancel and not upload any images, simply click the “x” at the top right to close the window and return to the previous screen.
