#3 - Preserve your vehicle's history

How much to enter?
The first big decision you have to make is how much history you want to capture in your RideCache for your vehicles. For older classic cars and restorations, this history may be the majority of your RideCache content. Your decision on how much to include will be based on the records you have for the vehicle and your desire for detail. Most people will choose to include the major items that other users and potential future buyers would find interesting, but may not enter every oil change and routine maintenance.

You can find a lot more detail here, but below is a quick tutorial to get you started building and preserving your vehicle with RideCache.

You can build your vehicle's RideCache history by creating Tasks, Parts, Papers and Events related to the vehicle. Each of these elements has its own tab in the RideCache interface. Once you have selected and opened a vehicle, you can see these tabs below your vehicle's image thumbnails on the main vehicle page.

Under these tabs will be listed all of the elements of that type for your vehicle. At the top of this list, you will see the "Create New..." button where you can open the form to create and add a new element to your RideCache. Here is an example of this button to create a new task.

Once you click on that "Create New..." button, the form will open to allow you to enter the basic information for the element. The forms are very straightforward and drop-down lists are presented where possible to provide a standard set of choices. In the cases where you do not find a suitable item in one of these drop-down lists, you can type your own text into the box that is always available just below that drop-down.

And remember, RideCache loves pictures and there is no limit. Add as many pictures of you have for each of the elements. Pictures make for a much richer RideCache for your vehicle.
